BLK hack is an (ESO) Entrepreneur Support Organization that helps black and brown founders, freelancers, creatives and young professionals navigate local tech and startup ecosystems. We disrupt systems that lack Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We collaborate with public and private partnerships that are intentional about helping us build pipelines that increase access and equity to all. We Build Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive ecosystems. Highlighting founder’s stories through events, workshops, and collaborative programs we aim to create change and breed progress.
The Jones Boys were working on a Dream to launch the next Black Netflix in Columbus Ohio closing the distribution gap for diverse content creators. We quickly realized we would fail at launching a BLK startup without an Inclusive and Equitable ecosystem. With most BLK and Brown founders receiving less than 1% in VC funding and less than 3% of us making up the venture workforce we knew then overall we lacked the access needed to be successful locally. We quickly pivoted to build the pipeline for all the BLK and Brown founders to follow.
2020 has already been a different kind of year. BLK and Brown communities are up against 3 pandemics. Health, Economic, and Systemic Racism. We have dedicated the last 4 years to increase the awareness of some of these issues statewide. Based on the feedback and data we start to roll out new programs and efforts to close these gaps. We can’t do it alone and now more than ever need the support of YOU. This is an all hands on deck approach and rely on public-private partnerships to move the needle further.
We started BLK hack to disrupt what we saw as systemic disparities. We spent a lot of time rebuilding networks, bringing awareness to both communities, and educating our community. We hustled and now we are ready to build out Phase II. Support our movement and dive in.
